Architectural Review & Brief

Before you buy more architecture, determine what the system actually needs.
Bring the AI system, agent, workflow, architecture, vendor proposal, implementation, or problem already in front of you. We will examine it structurally, identify the most important issue, and determine the right next step rather than assuming what you need before looking at the system.

The Drift Stack layered architecture: Identity, Frame, Boundary, Drift, and Correction

The Drift Stack™

Identity → Frame → Boundary → Drift → Correction

Start with the system in front of you

What This Review Does

This is the architectural front door. It is not a cheaper conformance review and it does not assume that conformance is what you need.

The purpose is to understand the actual system, identify the structural issue that matters most, and determine what should happen next before you spend more time or money solving the wrong problem.

What is the system actually doing?

Separate the model from the surrounding application, agents, memory, data, tools, workflows, people, integrations, and external actions that determine how the system actually behaves.

Where does authority actually live?

Identify where decisions become actions, how permissions and authority propagate, and whether the architecture distinguishes capability from current execution authority.

What state is being relied upon?

Examine whether important decisions depend on current validated state or on stale, incomplete, assumed, or internally reconstructed conditions.

Where can the system drift?

Look for changes in identity, frame, memory, evidence, authority, objectives, context, counterparties, policy, orchestration, and operating conditions that can change the validity of a later action.

What is enforced and what is only claimed?

Separate governance language, diagrams, prompts, controls, and vendor claims from the mechanisms that actually constrain runtime behavior and execution.

What should happen next?

Determine whether the right next step is conformance review, architectural remediation, implementation work, a deeper architecture engagement, executive decision support, or no additional Samirac work at all.

Make the hour useful

Bring the Actual Problem

You do not need a polished presentation. Bring whatever best exposes the system or decision you are trying to understand.

  • An AI system, agent, application, or workflow already in development or production
  • A system diagram, architecture, design, or implementation plan
  • A vendor proposal or technical claim you need to evaluate
  • A governance or execution-control approach that needs architectural examination
  • A memory, state, identity, authority, orchestration, or drift problem
  • A proposed AI initiative you are deciding whether or how to build
  • A failure, near miss, or behavior you cannot fully explain
  • A question about whether your implementation is ready for formal conformance review

Deliverable

You Leave With an Architectural Determination — Not Just a Conversation

After the live review, you receive a concise written Architectural Review Brief documenting the primary finding, the important architectural exposure or question, and the recommended next step.

The brief is designed to be useful internally. It gives you a documented basis for deciding whether to proceed, fix something first, deepen the architecture work, move into formal conformance review, or stop because no additional work is justified.

The brief can include

  • The architectural issue or decision that actually matters
  • Where the important structural exposure sits
  • What is currently enforced versus what remains assumed or narrative
  • Whether the system appears ready for formal conformance review
  • The smallest next step that materially improves the situation

The review determines the path

Possible Next Steps

Ready for Conformance Review

The architecture is sufficiently mature for a formal Drift Stack™ / SAQ™ conformance review to be the appropriate next step.

Architectural Remediation First

A structural issue should be corrected before formal conformance work begins so the review is evaluating a system that is actually ready to be evaluated.

Deeper Architecture or Implementation Work

The problem requires a defined architecture plan, implementation support, or a larger working engagement rather than a conformance process.

Executive or Decision Support

The primary issue is not implementation readiness but a leadership, vendor, investment, governance, or architectural decision that needs deeper examination.

No Further Work Required

If the review does not identify a material reason for additional Samirac work, the brief will say so. The purpose is to determine the right next step, not manufacture one.

Scope

What This Is — And What It Is Not

This is

  • • A focused architectural diagnostic
  • • A private live review of the real system or problem
  • • A written architectural determination and next-step recommendation
  • • A way to determine whether formal conformance review is appropriate

This is not

  • • A full compliance or security audit
  • • A certification or conformance decision
  • • A legal, regulatory, actuarial, or insurance opinion
  • • An open-ended consulting engagement or system rebuild
